The Shark League regularly produces factsheets, policy statements, and reports to educate stakeholders and policymakers with a view to influencing key decisions and continually advancing shark conservation. In developing these documents, we summarize relevant background information, distill the latest findings, and present science-based arguments for specific policy changes.

Sharks deserve special conservation focus because low reproductive capacity leaves most species exceptionally vulnerable to overexploitation. International and domestic fisheries management improvements are urgently needed to protect these vulnerable species from overfishing and finning (slicing off a shark’s fins and discarding the body at sea).
